What are endotoxins?

Endotoxins are a type of pyrogen produced by gram-negative bacteria, such as E. Coli. These lipopolysaccharides (LPS), are embedded in the bacterial cell wall, and contain fatty acids, polysaccharides and the O-antigen.

Immune cells in humans see this as an indicator of bacterial presence, which will trigger an immune response, often resulting in fevers and in some cases, sepsis, organ failure and death. This is why all implants and injectables are tested to make sure they are free of endotoxins and live bacteria.

Here at Ocean TuniCell we offer an endotoxin analysis service. If you’re curious about submitting your samples for testing, send us an email. You can also directly order an endotoxin analysis for your samples on our website. https://oceantunicell.com/service/
