Funded by HORIZON-WIDERA-2024-TALENTS program, FOCUS-4R aims to strengthen and foster biomedical research and innovation in the EU’s Outermost Regions, including La Réunion, Madeira, and the Canary Islands.

Guided by the principle of the 4Rs – Replacement, Reduction, Refinement, Responsibility, FOCUS-4R aspires to:

• Empower Researchers and other R&I Talents through cross-sectoral mobilities and specialized training programs.
• Develop cutting-edge new alternative methods to drive breakthroughs in biomedical research and biotechnology.
• Establish international and sustainable partnerships.

Led by CYROI from La Réunion, this project is driven through dynamic collaboration between eleven leading institutions and companies from France, Spain, Portugal, Norway, and the Netherlands.

At Ocean TuniCell, the project is led by our research scientist Laurence Hoareau, who is a molecular and cell biologist, and expert in using TUNICELL for 3D cell culture.
